Some great fire lighting was done by our youngest section this evening – the Beavers. Although dry fuel was hard to find as it has showered all throughout the weekend the Beavers did exceedingly well, with all of the groups using only the sticks, leaves and bits of bark they found on the ground and a flint-strike. None the teams needed to use a match and the small teams of four or five beavers didn’t need assistance from their adult supervisors as they lit their mini fires. The fires they made were perfect for toasting marshmallows on and adding in some chocolate digestives they made everyone’s favourite camp food – smores! The Scout leaders that joined us tonight may have found some future 1st Camelsdale Scouts!
