Beavers, Cubs and ScoutsWhether a Beaver, a Cub or a fully-grown Scout, the word ‘adventure’ probably best sums up what its all about.
Scouting helps young people improve their key skills, including social skills, teamwork ability, leadership ability and confidence. All sections run a varied and exciting programme offering lots of different activities, as well as the more traditional things such as camping and hiking. The activities offered are structured around achieving badges. There is a huge range of activity badges, staged badges and challenge badges and nothing is better than seeing the sense of achievement and pride when a Beaver, Cub or Scout is presented with their latest batch of badges. No-one involved in Scouting at 1st Camelsdale is paid for what they do. Everyone is a volunteer – mostly enjoying what they do and sometimes experiencing new challenges! There are many different volunteer roles – from occasional helpers to assistant leaders and section leaders. Behind the scenes are other volunteers helping out with the sections (such as being treasurer) or occasional activities.
